Description
The road has fallen in about a foot since Jan 2011. We know of one vehicle that had severe tire and wheel damage after hitting this giant trench. Everyone is trying to avoid the street at that end.
I pay enough taxes... this problem needs immediate attention. And not just asphalt filled in.

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) is attempting to patch this area today.
Unfortunately, we do not have funds for a reconstruction, which would be the long-term solution.
We do not receive any of your property taxes (we are not part of Oakland County general government, we are an independent unit of government -- you will not see the Road Commission listed on property tax bill). Rather, we are funded primarily through the state-collected gas tax and vehicle registration fees. The revenues from both these sources have been declining for the last five years after being flat for nearly 10 years prior to that.
As a result, there are many roads deteriorating in Oakalnd County, and vastly insufficient funding available to repair even a fraction of them.

Or just call the Road Commission. You can reach us toll-free at 877-858-4804. Since we're not able to monitor this Web site on a regular basis, this is the best way to make sure we're aware of your concerns.
Thanks,
