Do you know what company or service was operating the bus?
We are gathering data to identify idling hot spots, so please make sure to write again if you see a vehicle idling at this location.The Council will address the issue by alerting Philadelphia's Air Management Services, hanging anti-idling signs, and discussing the problem with local businesses. Thank you for your help in creating a smog-free city!

The idling of the Septa bus has not been resolved. The buses take a "driver break" at the corner of 4th and Walnut in Philadelphia. I suspect to keep comfortabe 9 warm in the winter, cool in the summer). Is there some reason that diesel engines can't be turned off if not moving?

If a bus, large commercial truck or construction equipment is observed to be running its engine while stationary, please contact the Air Management Services Unit at 215-685-7580.

All other vehicles, (cars, pickup trucks, vans, motorcycles, etc.), please report to the Police Department at 911. Thank you. (mb)
