No kidding.....I tried to get it fixed last summer, complaining about the issue with mosquitoes....now, it's creating a river in the alley. I've called and talked to someone with the city and I'm hoping that they don't wait until it dries up to check it out. Hoping for the best of results(in my lifetime)!!

Your concern has been received and forwarded to the Department of Public Works (CRS# 20020927382) so that proper inspection and handling can take place accordingly. This team has had problems with equipment breakage in regards to motor graders that break and need repair and may have broken again and back in the shop. Also members of the Alley Team are engaged in leaf removal services right now. This could also become a health hazard if animals drink out of standing water or attracting sewer rats. Not to forget that standing water attracting mosquitoes and spreads disease. My grandparents once lived in the City of Richmond & the alley in the back of their house had standing water which usually held a bad smell to it.

@sss. We have standing water in large pools in our neighborhood on the sidewalks. Those are not only a health hazard for the animals, but the people who must try to maneuver around it (people are forced to walk in the street). The City has done nothing about those, so I doubt they'll worry about fixing an alley anytime soon.

I complained about this last year and entered a ticket here. Alley was graded flat, but that only made it worse because they failed to come back and spread gravel! I pointed this out, yet nothing was done. Now after months of use (including big city garbage trucks), the alley is just a series of muddy pools. (This is behind the 4500 block of Cutshaw Ave.; looks just like the 4700 block shown in photo above.) And here comes summer and the increased health hazards... So if the "Alley Team" comes to the 4700 block, let them continue down to 4500... PLEASE!!

I just filed a complaint for the same issue. I think our alley was skipped during the "alley blitz", which is ending 6/20/14 for 23226.
I spread some gravel behind my garage and that made a huge difference. I'm thinking of hiring someone to re-gravel the rest of the 300foot alley.
