I too have the same issue on Lansing street and often have an infant in the back seat. It's pretty scary as some people go very fast up the hill and I can't see them until they clear the nearest park car. This forces me, to avoid possible cars, to have to accelerate quickly after turning from Lansing onto 1st, which is dangerous as there are often cars pulling out of the 2 exits of the gas station next to Lansing Street.

This is a really dangerous intersection. Usually the middle and left lanes are a parking lot of traffic, so cars in the (usually empty) right lane like to floor it to get the rush of breaking free of traffic. This makes for an extremely hazardous and nerve-wracking situation for those of us trying to get onto 1st street, as we cannot see traffic in the right lane if vehicle is parked there.

I've personally had several close calls where I was nearly rammed by some idiot speeding up the right lane of first street.

Highlights include a car coming the wrong way down the street on twice and good examples of clear visibility when the first parking space isn't taken.

I appreciate that this has been reviewed and I hope that the SR numbers mean the situation will be rectified. But again, please let me know how I can track this.

I now see three different SR numbers. Which one should I review and where can I go to review it?

My intention is not to be annoying, but to see the situation fixed given that it's a safety hazard. I've seen other SeeClickFix requests where the "Verified Official" has answered questions in plain English. I'm requesting that you do so with this case.

Getting the situation in front of the right people is a great first step. Ideally, step 2 would be letting the public know what's being done -- not just a service request number that can't be tracked.

Case Closed. Case is a Duplicate. duplicate from a couple of hours ago. please be advised that this request is in the wrong classification therefore it gets sent to the wrong department. We do duplicates so it can be sent to the correct department. unfortunately this report was done by someone else and the SR # is not available at this time.

If you are referring to a prior report of this on SeeClickFix, it was originally filed in November of 2012 (link below) by another neighbor. No action was taken for *10 months*, at which time the issue was marked as "Invalid".

I am happy to say thanks and to know that this issue will now be fixed.

As an FYI for anyone following this, here's some information that I received from the SFMTA today:

...I am happy to inform you that we recommended the removal of the parking meter and installation of an 18-foot red zone to improve visibility for both motorists and pedestrians. To gather input from the public regarding this proposal, we scheduled a public hearing at City Hall. The item was recently approved, and we will send a work order to our shops to install the red zone as soon as scheduling permits.

Moreover, in regard to your observation that vehicles are making illegal right turns to go the wrong way into Lansing Street, we will relocate an existing one-way sign to enhance visibility and improve compliance.
