Since installing the new sewage/water drain system along AIA in Hollywood's north beach two years ago, attempting to walk along the sidewalks there is impossible. The putrefying stench of gagging sewer gas there is so nauseatingly overpowering it is necessary to hold one's breath to quickly walk across the street, or to get upwind of the horrendously foul air. Whatever they did wrong there, they should learn from it and not make the same horrific mistake anywhere else. So, if they "fix" your neighborhood sewage/water system problem, be sure they don't foul it up even worse than they did on old north beach...

We forwarded your e-mail to the City's Department of Public Utilities for their investigation and response, and Public Utilities Manager Coy Mathis advised the following: "We made several visits to the area reported - the intersection of 22nd Avenue and Taft Street - we found no odors at any time." If you have further concerns regarding this issue, or if you again smell such an odor, Mr. Mathis requested that you contact him as soon as possible directly at telephone #(954)921-3522 so that he could assist you immediately.
