This classy vehicle was being driven in a not classy way yesterday morning - speeding up to overtake and passing at very close range - nearly brushing against me

If this bothered you, just imagine how this feels to someone who is just starting to bicycle.
The city will never meet its goals on promoting environmental sustainability (and financial sustainability of its individual residents) unless it takes concerns like this into consideration in transportation planning.
Unfortunately, the recent repaving of Whitney Avenue shows that we still have a very long way to go. In the meantime, we're basically burning money.

Hey Dudley, are you still in town? I had an idea for a project I want to do for Elm City Cycling. It would involve filming entire bike rides, both around town and out into the countryside. We would speed the film up in the computer, while keeping turns and tricky parts in real time. We would then upload the videos to YouTube, by which means they could accompany a series of bike maps I plan to make for ECC's website. Your bike cam would be perfect! Would you be interested in helping?
If so, email me directly at brian.nhss [at] gmail.com
Thanks!

P.S. Drafts of the first such bike maps can be found here:
