Why are there "No Right Turn " signs at this intersection??!!! There is no reason why right turns need to be blocked at this intersection When the new Harris Teeter store opens up it is going to cause an even worse traffic jam here.

Thank you for your concern. We have received an update from the Transportation Division that several years ago, several civic leagues and residents of the Suburban House expressed concerns regarding pedestrian crossing in the Wards Corner area.
The “No Turn On Red” restrictions were installed to improve pedestrian safety and mobility for the large senior population within the surrounding area.
With the new developments at Wards Corner and new traffic signals we will be evaluating the appropriateness of the traffic control devices in the area once the new Harris Teeter becomes operational.
For further questions, please contact the Transportation Division at (757) 664-7300.
