I live on Weed Road in Torrington and cannot believe how the road conditions have not been resolved by the town. The road is completely unsafe for drivers as well as the children who live on that road and would like to ride their bikes or people who would like to walk their pets or even take walks with their children!!! I have two small children and they dread me driving down the street because they say it hurts them going up and down and hitting bumps!!! The idea that my children are complaining about the street conditions says it all!! The street has ditches, pot holes and parts of the street are even concaving and it will just get worse every winter and we aren’t even done with this winter! A small portion of the road has been paved, but it was the other end of the road that needed repairing!! Patching up the road doesn’t do any good since all of the patched get lifted by the plows. I had a minivan that I drove less than 5 miles an hour down the road twice a day and I needed new shocks at 45,000 miles which the repair guys couldn’t believe because they are supposed to last a lot longer. I now have a new vehicle and know that these won’t last long either and it has become very costly and considering that we pay the town so much in taxes I feel that this issue should be resolved this spring…not two years from now when it will come to a point where the road will not be drivable! If I was looking for a house to purchase you can bet Weed Road would be the last place I would buy on merely because of the road conditions itself! I am just appalled period!
