This road is in desperate need of repair. This street is covered with deep holes all over and needs to be completely repaved. Me an my wife and many neighbors on this street bike to work and this ruined street presents a real hazard.
They haven't made any repairs? Granted, the side of the road might be outside of city's responsibility boundary. Call and b_ _ _ _. demand explanations.
This “maintained” road has gone unpaved for years. A worker came out to survey my request, he had many trucks and workers with him. Every one of my neighbors was outside hoping that finally this would be the time the road would get fixed.
I went out to talk and I told him it needed repaved and the crew agreed, but he said , “I think this road is unimproved.” I asked if he could check on his tablet. He lied and said it wasn’t working. So I called and found out it was a road maintained by the city.
Please take a break from updating sidewalk intersections and fix this moon-cratered road.
If you've communicated with PBOT, and exhausted the ordinary channels, try filing a grievance with the Ombudsman's office. Their contact info is at https://www.portlandoregon.gov/ombudsman/ keep the post updated :)
It is indeed the city's responsibility. PDXTRANS = PBOT. But, the thing is, sidewalks are property owner's responsibility and since this one doesn't have one on one side, I believe the city's duty ends at the would be curb-edge.. and I've no clue exactly where that line is. But at least you now have the section # you can give on the phone when you call.
Talked to a neighbor yesterday filling in a pothole. He’s lived here fifteen years and says they’ve never repaired this road in all that time. What I’m understanding is this road will never be repaired. Maybe we could get a discount on our property taxes instead?
I contacted the Obudsman and he talked with a woman with the Transportation Bureau who said, “our road doesn’t get enough traffic for repairs.” I find it hard to believe that our road will never be fixed because it doesn’t get traffic. I live here, and this road gets lots of traffic by me! Our road repairs don’t have to be the priority, it just needs to be somewhere on the list.
That's rubbish. City maintained means they should be fixing it within 30 days of being notified regardless of # of population. Go to the news channels. See if the City's media relations will tell the same to the reporters.
Sorry about your experience, but its unsurprising. It's PBOT after all.. the worst city Bureau.
They’re filling these holes with bricks now. When it rains you can see the tips of them poking out like the a sharks dorsal fin. Really the bricks are more like glaciers with 90% submerged in the deep abyss created from these pot holes. Can they even be considered pot holes? Only if Carter Lake is also considered a pot hole. The entire street is cratered like the moon.
The City that (claims to) Works doesn't directly check here. Was it actually the city that filled with bricks or was it desperate neighbors trying to make the pothole less worse? PBOT and OMF-HUCIRP are top two runners of Portland City Government.
Yea this road is still really bad. I don’t understand. There’s no ‘not improved’ sign so I feel like it should be treated like any other city road and repaved- it’s bad enough!
On a somewhat related note, have they got around to fixing that gaping sinkhole on Willamette or Edison under the St. John's bridge by Cathedral Park that's been around for at least a few weeks?
Here’s another picture of our road. Jk, this is from our vacation in Hawaii, Volcano National Park, the most geologically active location in America. This caldera bottom looks just like our road on Pierce. Please fix.
Bricks still sticking out of the numerous potholes on my street. My neighbors attempt at filling the pot holes and a testament to the hopelessness of our situation. At least the corners of the bricks are somewhat rounded now. I remember when they were like sharp road spikes, but soon they will be little pebbles and people will only wonder how the little red stones came to be mixed with the black sandy remains of our decrepit asphalt street.
The latest sink hole caved in again and was filled in a second time this month. Now it’s another massive bump I have to drive over. It’s only temporary anyway. It will eventually sink a third time.
It was nice of the city to keep refilling a sink hole just to have the pavement swallowed by the widening hole. They say the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Was this the road they were always talking about?
The service time is certainly not consistent with what they claim in canned message. Have you tried reaching out to your neighborhood association, which is Cathedral Park Neighborhood association and see if they'd advocate for you? In Portland politics, it's not always about what it is, but who calls it in. It shouldn't be that way, but it is what it is.
…the most unfortunate of events have come to pass these cold months. Our road has fallen into a sad state of disrepair. I was distraught with sorrow as my SUV bottomed out on this road maintained by the city. I was quite inconsolable. Let us return from our peregrinations safe from this infernal hardship. I long for the moments to be close to you again. Remember that night in the bundling bag? Oh Martha how I wish to gently nibble your ear again with my wooden teeth.
Well well, if this makes you think twice... City of Portland PBOT is also in charge of maintaining street lights. They don't even bother prosecuting criddlers that break into poles and hook up an extension cord and often take weeks to even remove the illegal cord. That's PBOT for ya. They suck.
Citizens of this city, I stand before you as a guardian of justice and a symbol of hope. Our roads, once smooth and safe, have fallen into disrepair, becoming treacherous paths that endanger all who traverse them. The time has come to rally together and demand action from those responsible for maintaining the infrastructure that supports our daily lives. Let our voices rise like the Bat-Signal in the night sky, urging the powers that be to mend our roads and restore the safety and security that our city deserves. We shall not rest until our streets are once again a beacon of order in the darkness.

It says the case is closed on the pothole map.

It’s been one year since I’ve brought this issue to ODOT, and this road has not been repaved.
Please repave Pierce.

My vehicle currently bottoms out on the newly discovered craton* in the middle of our street.
*Craton - stable block of the earths crust forming the nucleus of a continent
