Description

Newly installed traffic lights on the north side do not align with lanes, since the pole holding the lights is not long enough to span two lanes plus a turn lane. It is a two signal pole - not the same length as the three other signal poles at the same intersection, which are better able to safely indicate the flow of traffic for three lanes. Please refer to the photo, which shows the rightmost light hanging over the curb rather than centered over the lane, and the turn signal aligned over a lane going straight rather than over the median.

also asked...
Q. What is your area of concern?
A. Lane Assignment - Traffic Signals.
Q. Why is this a concern?
A. This is unsafe since drivers may believe a lane for going straight is a turn lane due to the turn signal being aligned over the wrong part of the street. Drivers in the turn lane may not realize that the signal applies to their lane.
Q. Problem occurs at what time of day?
A. 4pm-7pm
Q. What direction were you traveling?
A. North
