Why is it that Eastpointe water bills are roughly double that of surrounding cities?? It is ridiculous! We get our water from the same place. I'm surprised I don't see more complaints on this subject online.
Eastpointe has a combined sewer system. that is, the water that comes from the house and the water that comes from rain, etc goes into the same system and must be treated. Most other cities have different systems. What that means is that there is a significant amount of rain/outside water that has to be treated, whereas it does not have to be treated in other cities.
Another part is the amount that is needed to upgrade the sewer system. That amount is combined in the sewer portion of bill. Eastpointe is an older community and as such, needs more to upgrade the system.
Lastly the 'water' bill contains the amount each resident is charged for garbage pickup (moved from taxes).
If you have any other questions, feel free to contact me,
Seems to me if that is what were doing then we are paying to treat water that was not in the original system there for should get some sort of reimbursement for the extra water being returned that is being used not only by us but other cities. So if im paying to treat water that i did not use im adding to the clean water and if they are charging me for their clean water i feel we should be getting paid for the treated water that they get in return. put this money towards everyone's water bills and we shouldn't have to eat such a high bill to pay for water in other cities that's not even close to right.
I really cant afford these water bills! I have been paying my current bill but what i owed in the past keeps going up up up. I owed about $200. from 2019 because i was making partial payment back then. Now that $200. is about $550. I dont get it!! I am retired & this situation is ridiculous. I will never get this caught up.
