At approximately 4p this coyote was laying down in my backyard for a long period of time. It did get up twice when it heard something then would lay back down.
Please be careful with pets and be alert for safety!
I can't see a coyote in the picture, but if it's still there, kill it. If you don't have a firearm, use a baseball bat or some other tool of lethal offense. If you're too old to perform the task, ask your neighbors to help you. You could also call the city's animal control center, but it might take them forever to get there. Just kill it before it eats more cats and other pets.
The coyotes were here first. Call animal control if you're worried it's sick or injured - otherwise leave the coyote alone. Discharging a firearm in a residential area is dangerous & probably illegal. Attacking a wild animal with a bat or similar implement is likely to end badly for the human, and could be considered animal cruelty.
I love animals, but coyotes pose a threat to our pets. I'd rather have the coyote die than our pets. Also, it's not illegal to kill coyotes on private property. I understand there are many people who wish to live in harmony with all of nature. I would love for the same; however, mother nature doesn't work that way. Preserving the life of that coyote will eventually lead to more of our pets being eaten. The population of coyotes in Connecticut keeps increasing. We need to do something to control it.
It is illegal to kill them unless a bow and arrow is used. The problem with this street and area is people throw food outside for birds which are attracting the coyotes never mind the garbage that the kids in this area toss on the ground.
