Every day dozens of people leave their cars in the right turn lane of Pennsylvania Ave to use the post office, blocking a lot of traffic. Often Post office vehicles and trucks also double park.
OK. I keep getting automated updates but the issue continues. Just last week a fire engine/response team had trouble getting through the intersection because of double parked cars. Police screaming down Penn Ave with lights flashing have to weave around this de facto parking lot. People are double parking even when there are available pay-to-park spaces, and I've watched parking enforcement staff IGNORE double parked cars and ticket people who have at least parked and paid. It truly is astounding.
Ed, it matters to us, but since I wasn't good at listening, it took 3 years for me to get the unambiguous message that DC government cares more about power than the things that impact us taxpayers. I left the city and have never been happier.
