In the middle of downtown Matthews, NC are 3 speed bumps within 50 yards of each other. The speed bumps are too steep (Ramp angle), too tall, and right after the breakover the ramp the center of the speed bump is lower. This causes my car to bounce violently as the suspension compresses on the ramp but as it breaks over the ramp the bottom falls out. Trailer tongues have drug on the bumps as well. My question is do these speed bumps meet any of our DOT regulations as to their design and build and the frequency of them. In downtown Matthews there is a rough railroad track as well to add to the bouncing. Take a news truck, obey the speed limit see how rough and unsettling it is to traverse.

I am aware of their "attempt" at fixing them. It is funny how they originally put them in, then repaved the road then added material on top. If you would take the time to look the ramps they are about twice as high as anything in Charlotte, and once you crest the ramp it is actually lowerin the center than the crest; much like going over a curb but not as pronounced. I am quite aware the tracks are maintained by CSX not TSX, and those too are very rough and are in need of fixing. However they also act as a speed deterrent. My question to Matthews, and you is what DOT standard is already in place that they have not adhered too. Keep in mind their repair attempt after the repaving was add ramp length to reduce the angle of approach and add material next to the faux brick to reduce the fall, which is still not enough. Oh and have seen the new curbs etc. after a heavy rain, they flood the street too.

Why should you or I take another route? We all pay taxes, and this is a good example of poor use of them. They are poorly designed and need to be fixed, hold the towns etc accountable with our tax dollars not let them just do what they want.
