It sounds to me the blame is on the driver that didnt pay attention to brakelights and turn signals .... and the blame rests on that person that rear ended the other person .... whether there is a dip or not at the end of the driveway

I drive on Old Post Road every morning. Cars always speed and catch up to me and tailgate even though I'm going the speed limit. It should be patrolled better.

to Dru: its not the home owners property issue when the level of the road keeps rising. home owners aren't required to repave their driveways everytime the road is repaved. However when they do repave the rd they are suppose to run a slight transition off the road, so not cause 6 INCHE drop. Old Post rd is dangerous enough with weather related road conditions, unsafe drivers a the general layout of the road. Everyone has a VERY good point that drivers tend to not be paying attention to the cars in front of them or the speed limit on this rd.

The homeowner is responsible for raising the level of the driveway. Is there any chance that TURN SIGNALS are not being used? I'm just saying...

A number of posts are correct! Poor driving skills and not paying attention! Were the cause of a rear ender. But, the bigger picture is something needs to be done with Old Post rd. It is one of the more heavily traveled roads in Malta. This problem should not be only addressed by Malta but the other surrounding communities that use this as there main access to the northway such as Milton, Saratoga, and Ballston Spa! A traffic study should be done and the local officials should work with there congressmen to secure some sort of federal funding to improve the condition of this important corridor for the future!

The bulk of the traffic on Old Post Road (OPR) is morning commuters headed to the Northway. Afternoon commuters tend to split between OPR and Malta Ave. My suggestion is to build a Southbound-only entrance-only ramp on Malta Ave for the Northway. Malta Avenue is much more suited for the traffic load, and this would eliminate at least half of the morning commuters on OPR. One ramp would not cost that much, and there may be federal stimulus money available, as I87 is a federal highway. Just a thought...

I agree with Karen, there should be a southbound ramp to the Northway on Malta Ave. Don't hold your breath waiting for the Town of Ballston Spa to do something about it, though. It has been 15 years and they still haven't brought in a decent supermarket to replace Grand Union.

Thanks Rob - the perfect example of an entrance ramp like this - with no associated exit - already exists on Crescent Ave. It funnels most of the race track traffic directly onto 87 southbound. I really think it would be an economical solution.

I don't understand this issue and feel it is incorrect. It is also a quite old issue. Therefore, I am closing the issue and if it happens again, a new issue can be created.
