Description
This property, among other things, is a complete dump. Here are a list of the issues.
-Parking lot has no lines (It looks like they were spray painted by hand at one point)
-Parking lot has pot holes everywhere.
-Exterior of the building is dirty and unmaintained.
-Signage on the building is old and unmaintained.
-Parking lot is full of debris/trash/broken beer bottles
-Overall visual appearance looks rundown, dirty, and completely unmaintained.
The Notorious Underage Drinking Establishment, known as Crowley's.
-This bar has numorious violations for underage drinking. As recent as this past Wednesday. Reportedly 20+ underage drinkers were caught inside by ALE Agents.
-Their late night clientele races down Medlin drive and through My Neighborhood well above the posted 25 MPH posted speed limit
-Late night you can smell the drug usage coming from their back patio area. (we have friends that live feet away)
-Although the late night noise of their crowd has been contained...Slightly The real problem is that the City continues to allow this notorious underage drinking establishment to exsist. Now don't get me wrong. I went to college and yes I drank underage in bars. But the bar wasn't in a family neighborhood and feet from Million dollar homes. The families in this neighborhood do not deserve to have this in their backyard. The ugly and unmaintained building brings down our property value. As for the bar, well college kids need to stay on the college campus for their late night partying.

First of all, it shouldn't matter if the homes are million (or Million, as you say) dollar homes. Even modest neighborhoods deserve respect from those traveling through or visiting. (Do I smell a little elitism along with the garbage from Crowley's?) This neighborhood was more blue-collar back in the day when Crowley's opened and it hasn't aged well. The folks at Dixie Trail Automotive are really nice and have tried to improve their property's appearance, so that gives me hope. When I read posts such as these, it makes me feel that I am no longer welcome in my own neighborhood simply because I don't drive a Lexus and my home isn't 3,000+ square feet.
It's a well known fact that Crowley's serves the high school crowd. Kids from Broughton tear through the neighborhood to get there after school. Then they do donuts on the soccer field at the intersection of Banbury and Brooks.
As for the college students, well.... they live in the neighborhood, so even if they are renting, they are our neighbors, at least temporarily. A call to the owner of the rental property might clear up misunderstandings.

Crowley's and the owners of the shopping center need to respect the neighborhood and their neighbors. They also need to follow the law or be shut down. All they have to do is look across the street at Taste to see how to start changing their image for the better.

No, I am not addressing the comment, but I am addressing an attitude. If you move into an established neighborhood, then shouldn't you try to understand your neighbors and respect them regardless of their income level or the size of their house? After all, they are the ones who laid the ground work to make it a desirable neighborhood. But I get it: my kind is no longer welcome in this community.
As for the issue, safety of the kids--and the pedestrians and other motorists they. may encounter after drinking--should be paramount. The people who live in the million dollar homes saw what was there before they moved in, or at least I hope they looked around and checked out the neighborhood before making such a big investment.

Dirt Poor Neighbor... Your comments are valid and by no means did I intend to insult you or make you feel unwelcome. I love the diversity of this neighborhood as I think that is the charm and why people love this area so much. I apologize.
The commercial property that is in question has been cited by the city as a "visual public Nuisance" about 5 weeks ago and nothing has changed.
The bar in question recently had a change in ownership from husband (who passed) to his wife. Again ALE and RPD know about this place as they have recently caught individuals that were underage drinking in the bar. I can imagine why anybody would want that in their backyard.

Frustrated Neighbor, I apologize to you as well. And you're right: No one wants that in their backyard, especially when they have made an investment in a home. But the Medlin Drive area has seen improvements, especially with the number of cars that used to be parked at the repair shop. The owners said it took them months to clear those out.
Maybe, when the ALE is finished with Crowley's, we should have a beer sometime?:-)

I apologize if my tone seemed harsh. I just do not understand why people move into a neighborhood then complain about everything not being perfect. They very often expect everyone and everything else to change to meet their standards. If Crowley's was a North Hills type establishment, that didn't impact property values, do you think they would look the other way when underage patrons were served alcohol?
Taste and Dixie Trail Auto are really happy to be in this shopping center. They are good neighbors and provide great service.
