The large concrete safe is still there. it is in the middle of the block on the East side of Manila between 40th and 38th. It will probably take a crane to lift it onto a truck and carry it away, looks like it weighs 500 lbs.

To the best of my memory, this is the third or fourth time this issue has been "closed." In reality, as the photograph I took a few minutes ago shows, the bulky safe is still there, blocking the hydrant, and there is even additional trash since the supposed "closure" of the issue. Is somebody a serial liar about this, or is there another explanation?

If there is already an "open service request," why does Public Works persist in saying that the issue is "closed?" This is a serious safety hazard that has been in the street for a month and it's getting worse rather than better.

What does "addressing the issue" mean to PWA? To the best of my memory, this is the 8th or 10th or 12th time that they have "addressed this issue" but, as my photograph taken ten minutes shows, I can only assume that it means a drive-by inspection at best. It's still there, and attracting more trash than ever.

Seriously, PWA. Don't close an issue unless the problem has been remediated. It makes the public distrust your department.

If a car were parked in this red zone, it would be towed. It's also block a hydrant that could cause a serious problem in case of fire.

I drove by a few minutes ago and nothing has changed, so I am still awaiting the next "has addressed this issue" message.
