Both trucks are currently on our street at this very moment.

Both of them forget to turn off their music when stopped. The sound of two trucks playing that stupid music at the same time is deafening.

There is now a third truck (different song from the previous two) and it came down our street at 9:30 pm on a Sunday evening. According to that law stated above they've broken the summer schedule which ends this October. Children (and some adults) are fast asleep getting ready for Monday and this business owner doesn't give one crap about that. Treat your customers well and they will respond by buying your product. I walk to the market to buy ice cream because these trucks are so obnoxious, I refuse to give them my money.

I am so with you guys 100%. Ice cream trucks drive me crazy!!!! They know they're not supposed to stop with their music on for an extended period of time but they do anyway. @steinerla My recommendations are to contact both the food department and complain, as well as submit a web tip if they're operating outside of the rules they're suppose to obey. Keep a log of their appearances (with photos too if you can) and report that with your submissions.

Glad to know it's not just me. I live on Rampart near 4th & that @#&*+!$% ice cream truck drives me crazy. By the way, it's March, it's 7:35pm, and I hear it outside right now.

Dear Steve, the best advice I've been given is to talk to the lead officer in your neighborhood about the nuisance which I will be doing this month because I know they'll be staying out past 8:30pm this summer.

Why is it every other ice cream truck in the city knows the ordinance except for these guys. It's 11/3 at 7:16 pm. They're not suppose to be here past 5:30pm

This truck has been in our neighborhood for OVER 2 HOURS and 1 and half hours OVER ordinance restrictions.

Today this truck has been here since 4:39pm. It's now 6:53pm, almost two hours past ordinance law. Sorry to say this, City of Los Angeles, but you have failed this neighborhood. FAILED.

I agree Mark, I've written to the LAPD Rampart Division Complaint Office, they did nothing. I filed an official complaint with the County Health Dept./Food Truck Services, they were nice about it & called me back, said all they could do was inspect them since they were overdue for one. Didn't change a thing. The one that torments my neighborhood is Mari's Ice Cream, lurking twice a day over 40 minutes & playing the same Christian music over & over to the point of insanity. I even try industrial ear plugs & it doesn't completely block it out. I'm contemplating bringing this up next with the city council (??)

Once again and all this month, they're here in my neighborhood after ordinance hours for over an hour at a time. They're probably selling drugs based on how late they're out.

My neighborhood (Pico Union) has been under siege for the last two years and it seems to be getting worse. Multiple trucks have been regularly (and often simultaneously) blasting their oppressive, intolerable, and dreadful music until past 10:00PM and certainly NEVER stop the music when the trucks are stationary. I was unaware that this was illegal before reading this thread. The ice cream trucks are certainly breaking several city ordinances multiple times daily, and it is a shame that nobody cares to enforce a noise ordinance. The residents around here are too complacent to put a stop to it. Instead they line up like Pavlov's dogs as soon as "Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer" and "Silent Night" are turned up to 11 outside my window (in July!!!) . It's really great when the music skips and repeats incessantly. I would be seriously concerned about my children being in contact with the criminals that are operating these repulsive trucks. They are certainly operating without permits or background checks. The trucks and occupants appear disheveled, home-made and sketchy at best. Seems like the perfect employment situation for a sexual predator... I guess city council is the next stop for me? It might make more of an impact if several of us showed up with our grievances.

Call your LAPD Senior Lead Officer; tell them to enforce the LAMC code below. Tell them you want your request put in the rotator so all 4 shifts cite the ice cream trucks. Also, call LAPD Traffic Bureau and tell them you want enforcement. There are also California Vehicle codes they can enforce that concerns stopping in the street and vending from a double parked position; 22500 and 22455.

SEC. 115.02. PROHIBITION AND REGULATIONS.
It shall be unlawful for any person, other than personnel of law enforcement or governmental agencies, or permittees duly authorized to use the same pursuant to Sec. 103.111 of this Code, to install, use, or operate within the City a loudspeaker or sound amplifying equipment in a fixed or movable position or mounted upon any sound truck for the purpose of giving instructions, directions, talks, addresses, lectures, or transmitting music to any persons or assemblages of persons in or upon any public street, alley, sidewalk, park, or place, or other public property except when installed, used or operated in compliance with the following provisions:

(a) In all residential zones and within 500 feet thereof, no sound amplifying equipment shall be installed, operated or used for commercial purposes at any time.
