Please Fix!!

This is a Traffic Commission issue

Does anyone know the email address for the Traffic Commission? Is that part of the state or the Town of Medford? Perhaps someone could create a watch area for them?

There is a large history regarding this light. Its the Elephant in the room for our politicians. They spent hundreds of thousands of $'s studying how to turn them on and time them with the lights in Medford Square. Bottom line, they determined it can't be done without causing huge back ups to 93 and the South St/main st neighborhood. It will take someone getting killed for them to perhaps start another study and find someone who will fix the problem. That is why you see the DPW stating its traffic commision issue.

Sending this out to neighbors and asking them to vote on the issue is one way to raise the profile of this. Posting videos and photos can also help tell the story if it is dangerous.

For example in New Haven, we recently had an issue with 252 "votes to fix" and the city even passed legislation to try to fix it.

this is the worst intersection in Medford, and the lights are already installed, how many accidents will it take to have them turned on ?

I agree, the lights on both sides of the ramps on and off of 16 need to be used as traffic lights and not just blinking. The current situation causes traffic backups and is very dangerous.

This must be one of the most dangerous intersections in the Boston area... I avoid turning left off of MVP at all costs, even if that means continuing up to Winthrop st.

Beating a dead horse here but "I agree". I dont know that the city has a lot of options as it would cause traffic back ups in the square etc. My solution has been to not use it, period. I don't know that everyone else has that option. Coming from Boston, I'd rather go up to exit 32 (Rt. 60) and have to deal with Medford Square traffic than try to take a left at that exit. Russian Roulette is what it is.

I am terrified of this intersection and do crazy looping detours to avoid it even though I live on a 1-way by south street
