Maybe people can learn what MERGE means first.
If you are entering a highway, YOU are the one responsible for slowing down if you cant fit in an opening in traffic.

This is a historical road and can not be widened or changed. People need to learn how to get on to Rt 15. It is not the same as I-95 and you do not get on the same way. If you can not figure out how to drive this road then stay off for your safety and mine! The road will stay just the way it is and was.

The parkway can be changed. Acceleration lanes were added at Exit 60. I agree they are needed at 61 also. Occasionally so many cars are waiting to get on at the southbound ramp they back up all the way to Whitney. Given the state's financial condition, we will have to be patient.

It's not the road, it's the drivers. I've driven this road for 34 years. The locals know how to yield and move over to let traffic on, and accelerate rapidly when entering the highway. The college kids and distracted drivers always cause accidents. Lets put kill switches on the cell phones.

I was rear-ended by a state cop when stopped at an entrance ramp stop sign. It's totally crazy that it's still like that.

This is a parkway, not a highway. The skills needed to drive on the parkway are very different. Yes it is very hard to get on and off during rush hour. That said you need extra caution to be safe. I do not think we should change a historic road because some people think they can drive like a highway when it is not.

I agree the problem inst the road, its that people need to watch the car in front of them before moving. Often the car in front of you will start to move and you assume they got onto the parkway, but they had second thoughts and stepped on the break. Meanwhile the driver behind is slowly crawling forward watching traffic unaware the car in front is stopped. BANG. Most of these are at the southbound north haven exit for some reason.
