After the big snow storm last year, residents pumped their basements for months. The road is very uneven so the water would come as far as neighborhood road down lakeview drive and finally on cedar. This eventually flooded the front of my home until late april. The basin continues to flood with every little rain today. Even with no rain the basin is full with water that sits still and attract bugs. It also began to smell on some hot days. I had to call and complain for weeks before they would come and pump out water and debri.

All the basins in Mastic Beach need attention. There is one off South Forest that is so disgusting - slime, garbage, and filthy water fill it. Do these basins have some kind of special drainage system? Are they full of bluestone, or river pebble, to allow drainage? From what I can see they appear to be giant holes dug with no consideration as to how long they remain full and when they should drain after heavy rains.
They did come to pump the one on Diana, and the one on Forest, but for all the pumping, the water lever didn't change and the place looked and smelled as gross as ever.
