The sensor for the light at Essex & Hawthorne Blvd hasn't worked properly since Hawthorne Blvd was repaved several years ago. The light keeps traffic on Essex St sitting for a long time before changing. What's needed to fix this?

Something to consider...doesn't Hawthorne carry much more traffic in/out of Salem than Essex does moving across? Seems like more green light time should be allocated to the Hawthorne side anyway.

The problem isn't with the amount of time, it's with the sensor that causes the light to change when traffic is present. With the current system, the light does not change when a car approaches from Essex, which it used to. Cars on Essex now wait for a long time before the light changes, whether there is traffic on Hawthorne or not. I use this intersection at 4:30 AM regularly and sit for over a minute, all alone, waiting to make a left turn.

I'm guessing that no one at the city actually looks at this. I've not even received an acknowledgement that it's been read, let alone any plan to do anything about it.
