This happens regularly. Would be a great place for the police to hang out if they want some steady revenue from tickets.

I cross this intersection on foot every day and always wait for the pedestrian signal. Even so one must stay alert.
This is a DANGEROUS place where one can witness speeding, illegal turns and drivers who ignore red lights. Watch through a few signal cycles and you will see any one of these dangerous behaviors.

Speeding, 40 even 0ver 50 MPH on the 25 MPH Parkway, State Police measuring speed but not ticketing, a new $5K radar speed sign that does not function and was not installed with speed recording capability, walk red-lights regularly driven through, obvious driver texting at every intersection, right turns against signs that contradict, trucks and buses regularly violating the exclusion under State Law, from Huron Avenue to the River, backups in residential neighborhoods queuing for 3 light changes and more, and many other behaviors inimical to safety, children, pedestrians, bicyclers, and dogs.

However, our State Police regularly report Fresh Pond Parkway, especially Huron Avenue and east bound: “Too dangerous to enforce”.

Really they do. Multiple times the Lieutenant of the Upper Basin (Brighton) and officers have said: “Too dangerous to enforce.

As one of the primary reasons for government—safety of the people who live under its jurisdiction—something more than “provide this information” is the obligation of government at all levels.

For example, a home rule message to the Legislature should call for camera ticketing where any police force, including the State Police, call a section of Parkway, street or road: “Too dangerous to enforce”.

Please use the voice of the City of Cambridge to communicate to the Governor’s office about the ongoing danger at this intersection and on Fresh Pond Parkway between this intersection and Brattle Street.
We the residents have tried and failed to work with the state police and DCR for at least seven years.

We will continue to work with the State Police and specifically their Station Commander to keep them informed of the concerns we are being directly notified of -- including the above -- as it pertains to state roadways/highways.
