I'm no horticulturalist, but I'm not sure that this is a bad thing. Though I do agree that more maintenance has to be done to this beautiful space - full of cigarette butts from Corus employees and George Brown students, lawn at Sherbourne Common is giant weed pile, splash pad at Sugar Beach hasn't been active yet this year, and water feature at Sherbourne Common has been on for only about a week this year.
Who is suppose to look after theses areas? It was a big deal when they opened up. ?But after cake was ate everyone left it to the wind. these company need to be charged to keep place clean and tidy.
It does look bad and would have created a very poor impression on visitors to the Tall Ships. This isn't an area that is designed to turn into wilderness. Corus Quay and Sugar Beach are the waterfront's crown jewels and shouldn't be neglected. Weeping willows at the beach need a haircut too.
