Sorry for the delayed response. A preliminary traffic assessment was conducted based on Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) guidelines as outlined in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). The assessment included a review of the intersection’s crash history. Based on JCPD crash reports, this intersection does not meet the minimum FHWA threshold for major crashes to warrant a change in traffic control. Therefore, we do not recommend the construction of a traffic signal at this location at this time.

Did anyone go and actually see how many times people almost get hit by cars ? So we need to wait for a kid to get hit?

agree with the sentiment expressed by the above commenter - it would be safer for all if the city took a proactive approach in instances like these to prevent crashes, not rely upon a crash/injury/death count to trigger the installation of safety devices.

Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), or user-actuated flashing pedestrian signs, are installed at this intersection. When the button is pressed, the signs flash to alert on-coming drivers that pedestrians are waiting to cross the street.

That doesn’t work. The drivers still sped through. I’ve almost gotten hit a few times. There either needs to be a light or police presence during park hours. I rather not wait for a child to be hit

It sounds that we have to wait till kids are actually start dying hit by the car to make that change 😳😳😳 I go to this park regularly and after pressing button to have light blinking I wait till cars stop. On average I have to wait at least 3 cars for the 4th one to stop. On top of that cars are flying there. For this reason I will stand and wait until cars stop.
When you take a driver license course no one teaches you about those lights.

There looks to be a candles and other items on the corner was this done by family and friends of someone hit by a car?

Everything that could be done legally for this intersection was completed. It this remains an enforcement issue, please report through the JCPD, Unfortunately, due to the sensitive nature of the information stored in their reporting system, they do not utilize this reporting system.

So putting a street light is illegal? Or we have to wait on a kid to be hit
