Description
Several times an hour, cars speed dangerously up Argyle Road from Dorchester, when they see a green light at Cortelyou. This street is populated by many families with children, and there is a tot lot on the corner of Coretlyou and Argyle. It is only a matter of time before someone is seriously hurt or worse. This street needs a speed patrol and better street signage.

Since posting this, I've yet to see any police monitoring on our street, and still the cars race up toward Cortelyou.
And, if there is a car unloading passengers, a UPS or trash truck, the horn blaring starts in earnest, no matter the time of day. This is, or should be, a quiet residential block with lots of children. It needs some monitoring.

Since this complaint become known to the 70th Precinct, the Police Officer has visited the location at numerous different times with a hand held radar gun to check the speeds of vehicles traveling on Argyle Road towards Cortelyou Road. He reported that he did not observe any vehicles traveling in excess to 30MPH unposted speed limit and he did not observe any vehicles trying to gain momentum in an attempt to make the green light at Cortelyou Road. Argyle Road at Cortelyou Road or Argyle Road at Dorchester Road has never been identified as an Accident Prone Location.

This has become a real nuisance. With all the traffic on Coney Island, cars take Argyle as an alternate and, frustrated, they barrel down the street despite the school, tot lot, playground, public library and all the residences.
Was told a speed bump can't be put in because of the fire department, but the fire department doesn't come down this stretch of Argyle.

Cars continue to fliy down our street, daunted only by the occasional garbage truck, ambulette, or school bus, at which point they simply lay on their horns.
Other streets around here have received speed bumps, including those directly in front of the fire house. There is no reason this long speedway shouldn't also receive speed humps / bumps

Isn't that kind of the purpose of this program, to route requests to the appropriate agencies?
I've contacted 311, but don't have a report number. I've also contacted the local authorities and been informed that because there is a fire station around the corner, speed bumps cannot be installed. That makes no sense since this is a one-way street, with the fire station at the end of the route (no trucks would be speeding down this stretch of Argyle), and further there are several other streets nearby that do have speed bumps.
