Unfortunately the City does not have enough funding to repave all streets in poor condition. With limited funding, our response to resurfacing requests is limited to minor pavement and pothole repairs only. Our Street Maintenance Department will assess your street and determine whether temporary measures might be appropriate. Please understand that this work may be limited to pothole or other minor repairs, and that we have many similar requests. We will do our best to respond in a timely manner. The backlog of streets in Oakland needing pavement currently is $435 million and growing.

  If the problem is going to take 435,000,000 to fix, it will never happen! Why not figure out a way for people who live in the areas affected to take action themselves! The city could provide the materials and some basic training for residents to DIY the really bad potholes on their streets. Obviously freeway on-ramps and high traffic areas need to be dealt with in a different way.

  So I guess it would be cheaper to get sued for there tire blowing out and causing an accident. Or the city having to replace every car tire that gets flattened. What a joke the city of Oakland is

  If they are on the freeway this should be reported to Caltrans not the city of Oakland.
