Local residents have been trying for years to get the 50MPH speed limit reduced. No longer a country road as it was years ago, Auburn is now a residential/commercial street. With blind hills and hidden driveways, the speed limit is way too high for the development now existing.

Auburn Road was never a county road. It is a state trunkline (old M-59) under the jurisdiction of the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT).

We know that. Re-read my post. I said COUNTRY, not "county."
Many drivers treat it like an expressway. Cops have tracked cars going 70-80 MPH down Auburn. It's a fatality situation waiting to happen.

Anytime we can reduce speed limits in residental areas is a great thing to me. I live off of Tienken and Livernois and I still can't understand how they have eliminated the 25 MPH speed limit on the dirt section and increased it to 50 MPH. A few years ago, we had a car flip over on the dirt section and the driver died in that crash. Although he was under the influence, the speed he was traveling was the "death sentence" in that case. Add texting to the mix and you have a serious health risk to folks biking or walking on these roads.
