This is part of the reason Swarthmore Ave is constantly congested during the day. Now that school is back in we can look forward to the crawl from Chester Pike to MacDade. Pure laziness or someones oversight of not having this fixed back to the way it was before inconveniences hundreds if not thousands of people each week.

Still not fixed. Ridley park borough does not care. I guess I wasted my time putting it on here.

Thing is, if you click on the link titled "Where did this report go?" you'll see that it went nowhere. I don't know how those organizations are added, or how to request it be sent. Certainly the local level may not be appropriate since it's a state road. Or then, the local level could escalate it to the state level. But none of that will happen b/c the only thing it says under that link is it did NOT go to the bicycle coalition of something and the don't-use-cell-phone-while-driving thing.

I can't imagine how Ridley park residents are not upset about this. The traffic when the middle school let's out is ridiculous. Combine this with the malfunctioning traffic light and the occasional train crossing and its out of control. The borough could get it fixed. If its not their problem they could get the state right on it.

See click fix should be changed to see flux never gets fixed... this is an easy no brained that has effected 1000's of people since I posted it 8 months ago and it is still broke.

I recently wasted my time a few weeks ago trying to talk to ridley park township officials regardingthis issue. It was like listeining to paint dry! They were no help whatsoever.

Yes. Ridley park borough doesn't seem to care. The light at Dupont St and Swarthmore works too good! Everytime someone turns off swarthmore onto dupont the light is tripped. The borough just doesn't care about doing things right apparently. This has been broke for years now.

I wrote to Chief Byrne and to Borough Council Member Holly O'Mahoney who's in charge of Public Safety. I expect answers soon, then again, the traffic light is under the control of PennDot since Ridley Ave and Swarthmore Ave are both State Highways.

The daily disgrace through Ridley park borough. I guess elected officials are blissfully unaware that this had been going on for years.

Traffic backing up to Chester pike like it.does every day in Ridley Park Borough because they don't care enough about their community to fix the timing and the sensors for the lights that have been out of whack for years. Ridiculous

I've spoken with RP's Police Chief and the Borough Engineer and the news is not good about this light and the timing problem. Both Swarthmore and Ridley Are are both Commonwealth of Pa owned Highways. They are not owned or maintained by the Borough of Ridley Park.

As such, the absolute fact is that Ridley Park Borough and RP's Police department have their hands tied when it comes to timing and adjusting the timing of any light on a state highway. If the Borough knowingly readjusts the timing and there's a collision, then the liability is 100% on the Borough's shoulders for ignoring the times on the traffic light permit issued by PennDot.
Without writing another book on the subject, if the traffic light were go out of whack at Swarthmore and Ridley Ave, when it was restored, the light-timing would have to be reset to the original permit times in order to comply with PennDot's determination of the traffic pattern at "that intersection" on "their highway."
The idea, as I'm told, is to keep traffic flowing on the state highways to conserve gasoline - well it's frustrating to the residents and the Ridley Park Police.
PennDot has already altering the face of Rt 13 (Chester Pike), removing parking spots, and setting the timing on every traffic light along Chester Pike from Chester to Darby.
To get anything done at Swarthmore and Ridley Ave's I'd offer your complaints need to go higher, to the PA State level and maybe you'd be heard, since there is absolutely nothing RP or RPPD can do about your complaint other then listen and be sympathetic like the rest of us stuck along Chester Pike.

Until PennDot changes the lights, this issue is closed

That's a bunch of b.s. Ridley park online and its not closed. State rep nick miccarelli is from Ridley park and they could call him to take care of it. They are choosing to do nothing and gave you a standard brush off answer and you fell for it. They could also call penndot every day and have them.cone check the lights. Penndot doesn't care about a complaint from a motorist. They do care about complaints from.the municipality on minor issues like traffic light timing for Ridley ave.

@disgustedwithridleypark. You can believe what you want. I've taken my personal time to research this topic on three occassions. I spoke at great lkength with the Borough Engineer, Borough Council, Chief Byrne (When he was chief) and the PennDot representative in Middletown.

The Borough's saving my tax money wisely. It seems your complaint keeps the lazy from picking up the phone themselves. Thank you for writing about the complaint, now you need to do something more than be anonymous and follow through with action to your Representative office, rather then spamming your opinion see-click-fix

The Borough has nothing to do with the traffic lights on the highways they own, these traffic light issues are rightfully closed.

This web site is called "see, click,fix" until they fix it, it stays open. It's not fixed. It's obviously embarrassing to Ridley park and you are trying to hide the fact that your borough can't fix such a minor problem so you want to take it out of the public view. Not happening. Start your own web site "see, click, ignore and pretend it never happened" and I'll stay off it and you can.live happily ever after. You seem to have lost the whole idea of this web site.

They had the sensors before. They should have been put in the plans to be replaced after the water company dug up the street. They didn't do it, or spent the money somewhere else. It's a disgrace. I just drove up Swarthmore ave again today and that light had everything ridiculous as it does everyday.

Rp always blamed pendot for light timing. Im still waiting for the one on acres drive and chester pike to be fixed. It was fine till they dug up the bridge near Taylor hospital. Now ppl wait 4 mins to get out of leedom by the cvs in the am and its green for less than 1 minute so ppl wind up cutting thru the gulf stations lot to bypass the light. I guess when someone gets into an accident and hurt they will finally do something cause its gonna happen soon.

You should def post that as it's own problem if you haven't already. I know Ridley township will act on it unlike Ridley park borough with this problem
