The button to trigger the "Walk" sign is missing from the northwest corner of the street.

The problem is still there, but separate from this posting I've contacted Bob Garbacz at the City, and he says he'll take care of it. He's come through promptly in the past--it may be wiser for City of Alexandria issues to go to him directly than to use this system.
