Description
There are two sets of traffice lights on the Queensway very close to each other at Stephen drive and the small mall just to the East. At peak times the lights can turn green for traffic to come out of Stephen drive but if the other lights are at red going East there can be nowhere to turn and it is possible to get stuck on Stephen drive for more than one change of lights. The lights to the mall can also be a red in all directions for non-existent pedestrians, which doesn't help the problem.

i really notice this whenever there is an event in the city, or when traffic diverts off the Gardiner onto the queensway via the Parklawn offramp due to and accident or something. Once traffic really starts to pile onto the queensway, parklawn traffic will hit the red light at the traffic light by 125 The Queensway Mall and sewage plant. The traffic will then back up and pile into the intersection of Queensway/Stephen Dr. preventing anyone from Stephen Dr who was patiently waiting to turn onto the Queensway to stare at a full intersection when the light turns green.
Needless to say, this angers many on Stephen Dr who then pile into the intersection as well causing the secondary mess, preventing the flow of westbound traffic once they get the green light.
It also doesn't help that Food Terminal trucks and vehicles, from van's to semi's attempt to get in in out via that stupidly placed entrance and exit between traffic lights.
This has to be one of the worst thought out and poorly designed area's in the GTA.
If there was an entrance to the food terminal opposite of the end of Stephen Dr. and it was a proper 4 way intersection, that would fix 80% of the problems right there. Make that entrance have 2 paths, one leading to the food terminal, one leading to the mall.
At that point, take the traffic lights out of the intersection by the Sewage plant, they wouldn't be needed any more.
Hopefully the whole area will get overhauled if/when they decide to knock down the Food Terminal.
