Whose idea was it to change the lanes from left and straight traffic to left turn only? Traffic always backed up on Route 340 and Marshallton Thorndale Road, but now it is twice as bad. Change it back please!!
it is ridiculous that they did this. your right traffic is twice as bad now. I live right down the street and drive through there at least 5-6 times a day and it is so much worse now. also the traffic cones that they have showing how the lanes now work, are in the middle of the road causing more traffic. Coming the opposite direction is the same issue, because now you have people who don't read the signs cutting in front of you from the "new" turning lane to go straight at the light. Additionally there is no hope for anything who wants to use the one exit out of McDonalds
The new traffic pattern at 30 & 340 needs to be fixed. Traffic is terrible and is usually backed up. My niece lives on Hazelwood Avenue and has alot of trouble getting out of her street. The traffic on her street increased alot since this change. Please fix it.
You're insane! The southbound traffic flow across 30 is much improved since the lane changes. Now people who just want to cross 30 don't have to wait through several lights for shy left turners. Think about it.
wow 'nunya' calm down. people can have their opinions without having to be called insane. IN MY OPINION, the traffic is backed up more because more people turn right at the light. Now people who ARE turning left clog up the small lane that they have and make it harder for the other lane to get by. I regularly turn off of hazelwood and have to wait longer than i usually do.
The other directions people still do not pay attention to the signs on the ground (because there are no visible signs) and go straight from the now left turning lane. I've almost gotten into an accident multiple times because of this.
I drive through there everyday and I live in West Bradford Township. I believe that the southbound lanes are now moving a lot smoother and are less backed up because the people going straight to go up Marshallton Thorndale Hill do not have to wait in line behind the people who are trying to turn into the ACME Shopping Center. Also, it has been my experience that there are less people making the right onto Rt 30 than going straight which is why the Township combined those 2 lanes and separated the Left Turn lane. As for the North Bound side of things. The traffic on that side is terrible and always has been since the USTC building opened. There's too much traffic for that hill, and that intersection. I think people should stop complaining about the intersection and the township and start complaining to the USTC people because they did nothing to try and control the amount of traffic they have brought into the area.
I agree that bringing the people in for sporting events has helped our local businesses but for locals it's horrendous the amount of traffic and time it takes to only go a mile or 2 down the road. So before anyone starts bashing only the township for making changes maybe we should go to the source of the problem and ask then what they are going to do to fix the problem. USTC brought in the enormous amounts of people, are bringing in millions upon millions of dollars a year but are doing very little to aide the people of the community to which they have disrupted their lives.
From talking with Caln Township Officials they changed the intersection in hopes to make things better. They are continuing to monitor the intersection and are making reports in the township meetings as well as at the Fire Company meetings. If you have issues you'd like to raise instead of complaining about it on here go to the meeting and voice your opinion.
I think they need to change the light sequence on 340/MT (crossing Bus. 30) to match that of the Rt. 30 traffic: that is, have both directions left turn arrows on simultaneously, then both directions moving simultaneously, instead of only one direction green at a time.
These lane changes were a ridiculous idea. Having a separate left turn lane is only necessary to give left-turning cars a place to wait for oncoming traffic to pass before turning. But both directions of 340 do not move at once, so all this change as done is prevent people from making right turns at will (traffic permitting).
I agree with the lane changes and believe it has been a great improvement. However, it could still be even better. As a previous post stated, the lights should be timed to have the left turn lane go at the same time in both directions. Then once the left turns have completed, both directions should also get the green at the same time for traffice going straight and making a right. Don't understand why the traffic lights weren't updated when the lanes were changed.
