Agreed its stupid, also the speed limit on Hamlin going towards Livernois can be increased, that road has been expanded enough to get a speed limit of 40 or higher.
My understanding is that speed limits are primarily set by the number of access points (homes, business, etc) on the road. There are very few for the speed limit.
It looks like it is artificially low to me as well.
This section of Hamlin should have the speed limit reset and be consistent along it's length between Adams and Crooks.
I'm just speculating but I think that the 35MPH speed limit is because of the somewhat sharp turn that occurs directly before the intersection on the west side of Crooks. If there wasn't the slight jog there so that the road can bypass the river, I doubt this adjustment would be in place.
It's 35MPH for half a mile. Slowing down 5MPH for that short a stretch costs you, what, seven extra seconds of driving time? Unreal.
