I agree, this light is a total waste. I loved when it was a flashing yellow light a few months ago. Every time I drive down 1st ave. I pull up to this light it is always red. The reason they added this light years ago is because there was a building on the corner that made it hard to see to pull out but that building has been gone for a long time and there is no need to keep this light now.

Agreed - every time I come to the light it's red! This would be appropriate except that there is rarely ever any opposing traffic. Just another way to get held up on my way to and from work!

It's been on yellow flash the last few days and traffic flow has been markedly better with less chance of an accident than when it's operational. Hope it stays!!!

Traffic light continues to snarl traffic at peak times on 1st avenue, while no traffic is coming from walnut.

First and Walnut can be dangerous at time with traffic coming downhill

Show me an intersection that isn't dangerous. That isn't an excuse. The proper way to perform a hazard analysis is risk vs. benefit using a reasonable objective as a goal. The fact of the matter is that the need for this intersection is past it's prime. The entrance to the steel plant is unused and the visual barriers that once existed on the northeast and southeast corners are no longer there. The ratio of traffic coming from opposite ditections is over 15:1. This traffic signal serves no purpose and should be eliminated for proper signage for those heading west on Walnut St to the intersection.
