I have seen so many potential accidents at this intersection. I have also made calls to the city to ask that something be done to fix it. Please make this a 4-way stop, this intersection is very dangerous in its current state.

This is a dangerous intersection especially since the Polk Street grade makes it very difficult to see oncoming traffic.

I agree that this would make the intersection much safer.

While I suppose 4-way stop signs on every intersection would help prevent accidents, they're not necessarily the solution for every traffic challenge. If people are driving poorly on Polk @ Greenwich, I'd rather see better enforcement up and down the street than simply ANOTHER 4-way stop sign in a non-commercial section of the street. I respect the concerns of those who want yet another 4 way stop on Polk Street, but I would prefer to see bad drivers cited than have traffic flow further interrupted on this stretch of the street. In addition, bicyclists FLY through every stop sign on Polk between Union and Bay - their poor traffic behavior won't be stopped by another octogan on Polk.

I haved lived at this intersection for 6 years (2005 - 2011present) and I know of maybe three accidents in that time; I don't believe the solution is yet another STOP sign. We cannot put one on every corner, especially on a street with a major bike lane. People need to take some responsibility for their driving before assuming a STOP sign is the fix.

No one seems to be monitoring this issue

This issue should not have been closed down. It is still a problem for the folks living in the area.

I noticed that "yield to pedestrian" type signs were just put up in each direction on Polk St as it approaches Greenwich St intersection, so THANK YOU for that. Hopefully it will cause drivers on Polk to be alert and reduce speed.

Although it was not my hoped-for solution of 4-way stop at this intersection (which would be best and safest solution for both pedestrians and drivers, in my view), I am happy that some action was finally taken and I am willing to see how this works out in coming days. Accordingly I will close this matter for now and reopen if those new signs seem inadequate.

Closing for now, in hopes that signs on Polk St pointing out pedestrian walkways will adequately address the problem.
