I am writing about 2 areas where rt. 9 south intersects. First is where Rt. 9 South meets with Rt. 33 West, in front of Irwin car dealership. The traffic light is not at the corner of the intersection - it's in the middle of the street. When approaching the intersection, you cannot tell where the point of stopping is.Same on Rt. 9 & Rt. 79 , where Schank meets. Someone who is not familiar with this hazard will drive right through the busy intersection to reach the traffic light, which is in the middle of the intersection, not at the corner where someone should stop.

The traffic light at the intersection of Route 79(going west) and Route 9 in Freehold is in the middle of the intersection. When driving on Route 79,trying to cross over Rt.9, you cannot tell where to stop.I complained to the Police Dept. and I was told that because these are county roads,they can't do anything. This is a VERY dangerous situation and it needs to be addressed before there is a fatality.

A traffic light is never for telling you exactly where to stop. That's why there are markings on the road. That thick white line is called a STOP line for a very good reason. If you aren't familiar with that you should turn in your drivers license.

I believe that the white STOP line is not a clear indicator, especially if the weather is raining or snowing. A bright red light is a much clearer, safer visual. Why, then, are most traffic lights at the corner of the intersection? These lights are not in the normal position.

To Angela L, neither of those roads are county, they are state highways... you just need to redirect your complaint to the NJDOT. They have to investigate your complaint, I suggest writing a letter. The police won't do anything unless there have been many accidents there.

I did actually speak to someone from the DOT and was told that I should report it to the Freehold Township Police. So, I went to the Freehold Police Dept., and was told to report it to the DOT!!
The police told me they are aware of the problem...the officer said he agrees with me about the situation, but the local Police Dept. cannot do anything about it. This is typical bureacracy.I'm at a loss as to what to do next
