Description
A traffic light is needed at the intersection of Brier Creek Pkwy and Arnold Palmer Dr./Vogel St. As development has increased around this intersection, including the Brier Creek Elementary School and Community Center, this has become an increasingly busy and dangerous intersection. We respectfully request reevaluation of the prior requests made in 2006 and 2007. Thank you in advance for your help with this Bonner!

Response from the City of Raleigh's Public Works Department:
The City of Raleigh Public Works Department has initiated a signal study for the intersection of Arnold Palmer Drive/Brier Creek Parkway/Vogel Street and these types of studies usually take approximately 20-30 working days to complete. Senior Transportation Engineer Jed Niffenegger will respond when the study is completed.

Looking at this intersection during school hours would highly suggest at least a light that is active during school hours and blinking other hours.

Has the traffic signal study been done? This problem was first reported here 3 months ago, but the problem has existed for several years. I thought that when the school opened a signal would have been installed. This is a very risky intersection, especially during evenings when impatient drivers who don't want to wait at the stop sign when turning left from Arnold Palmer to Brier Creek Pkwy turn in front of traffic on Brier Creek Pkwy attempting to turn onto Arnold Palmer Drive.

This intersection was studied for signalization in 2006, 2007 and 2010 (September). Signalization was not recommended for any of the studies because no volume warrants of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD...the "bible" of traffic engineering) were met and there was a very low crash history that a signal could correct.
