hmmmm, I keep getting messages about this but I don't have any info. Could someone tell me why it's still there and what the reason may be, as the situation hasn't changed.

Yeah, this is ridiculous. The road is a bikeway - talk about a setup encouraging people to blow stoplights...

The school has been closed since 2006; but most likely will reopen to pre-k classes in 2014. A stop sign at 4th ave was taken away already. I agree the multiple stop signs even at the triangle should be evaluated. It's definitely giving encouragement to blow through stop signs. Also, as the street parking is getting more full, visibility is getting to be a problem for pedestrian and bikes. I'm waiting for the school change before I push for a reevaluated traffic stop plan.

I go through there nearly every day, and I rarely ever see people stop for any of the stop signs (not that this is any different from anywhere else) so I can't see how this would be much of an inconvenience for people. Just one more sign to ignore. Maybe what is actually needed is some enforcement.

I actually make a point at stopping at both, but when following the law involves a situation that is clearly ridiculous, I believe it increases contempt for the law and the likelihood of people disregarding the law more and more cavalierly.

I agree that enforcement is important, but so is having rules that deserve respect. This case fails in both.

It appears that this issue was closed even though the situation has not been resolved. It sounds like the person who posted it originally had the same experience.

If it is not going to be fixed, an explanation of why should be given.

This has already been resolved. The stop sign at 5th was removed and there is only one at Spring Street now, making that intersection a 4-way stop.

Yep, this has been fixed this year.
