Why is the City allowing homeless encampments blocking sidewalks on BOTH sides of our 23rd Street? Family residents with children can only walk on the street in traffic with automotive vehicles. This is an imminent danger all pedestrians in this residential street.

this part of Oakland is overdue to mount a lawsuit - yes, there are homeless in many parts of CA, but no where else do they allow tents on sidewalks in residential neighborhoods.

Here is the picture of the North side of 23rd Street. To all residents of 23rd Street, this is what the City expects us to endure and live with this filth. Very unsanitary, rats, feces, urine, needles, and garbage. The City will only clean-up only about once a month when the trash piles up to about waist high. Street sweeping is schedule on every other day on each side of the street but they don't sweep, only the meter maid comes to gives us $66.00 tickets.

This is how they clean-up. Sweep it into a big pile in the street for the City taxpayers clean. Moreover, in a couple hours the will be blowing all this trash in front of our residential homes.

Why is this issue closed? This encampment is still here in our residential 23rd Street. Doesn't any City personnel look to verify? If you're too busy to get out of your office here's today's photo so you can see. This Photo of the encampment is on the North Side of 23rd Street. We have encampments on both sides of our street.

Here's the Photo of the encampment on the South Side of 23rd Street. Yes, we can not even walk on either side of the sidewalk because of these encampments. We have to walk into the path of moving motor vehicles. Very dangerous indeed.

Yup. I'm taking my life in my hands every time i walk out the door; have to walk into dangerous traffic. City of Oakland, why do you misleadinglymark these issues closed? Would be borderline more respectable for you to simply ignore them.

I just lost a tenant of three years because she can not deal with these encampments anymore. She feels that it's unsafe for a single women especially when the darkness of Winter is coming in a couple of months.. Attracting a new tenant into this neighborhood with these encampments will be problematic and a challenge. If this is going to be a problem in attracting new tenant, I will be seriously thinking in selling my property with the 1031 exchange tax program which in enable me to buy another likewise property in another city without this problem.

Today, a person just defecated on my driveway, just in front of my tenants car at 601-23rd Street. These and all encampments on any residential streets must not be allowed. Doesn't the City know that it's hurting its residents in these neighborhoods or does the City really care? We have children living here. It's of no wonder why I just lost a tenant has mentioned above.
Moreover, can anybody tell me how to properly clean this bio-hazard poop? This is not a joke. The City does not clean anything on private property . . .you're on your own. 1) Do I dump it on the streets that later enters into the storm drain? 2) Do I dump it into the garbage and unfairly let Waste Management handle it? 3) Do I suppose to bring this bio-hazard into my house to flush it in my toilet? If this picture is gross . . .it was meant to be.

So sorry this is happening to you. You might as well dump in the storm drain, that's where hundreds of RVs have been dumping buckets full for the past year. You should see about refusing to pay property taxes given that the city has abandoned you

I’m new to this website. The comments state this issue is closed but that can’t be right because the tents and filthy are worse than ever. On 23rd all the way around the corner on Martin Luther King Jr. My car has been broken into on several occasions. I definitely don’t walk down that street as it’s gross and can be dangerous when those addicted folks are in a binge. This is ridiculous!!

The city does not care. They are counting on the residents of this area doing nothing more than complaining on seeclickfix. It will take a lawsuit to get anything accomplished at this point

You need to get a group of neighbors together and have TV media come down and do a story on this abuse. It has been going on for several years now and only getting worse.
