Description

Better lane designation signs need to be added to the intersection of Baltimore Ave and Oak Avenue.

When driving eastbound on Baltimore Ave approaching the Oak Avenue intersection, drivers who aren't familiar with the intersection do not realize that the righthand lane is for turning right only.

There are signs that tell you this, but, due to the hill that is there, drivers can not see these signs until they are too close to the intersection to safely shift lanes if they want to go straight.

People get cut off here all the time, as some just proceed straight through the intersection, even though they are in the righthand lane.

Adding to the confusion is an area on the far right where a SEPTA bus can pull off and make a stop. People who want to turn right will pull into this area, thinking it is the turning lane, only to find out that it isn't, and proceed to merge back into traffic (sometimes dangerously).

Signs need to be added above the lanes or lane designations need to be painted on the road so drivers can see them as they are still ascending the hill and before they go over the crest of it (in front of Burlington Coat Factory, perhaps). This way, they will be given ample time to move their vehicle to the proper lane safely.
