I know what you mean. Did you happen to notice how many of the cars have New York license plates! I was walking to the Family Dollar and happened upon a drug transaction. The punks accosted me and said "..get lost old man!" I am not known to have a cool temper. I retorted. " You are in my neighborhood. Get the hell out of here before I snap your spine!". They left

Oh and how about those customers that leave their music blasting in their cars as the shop...like anyone wants to hear that foul language ghetto music.

I did reach in and grabbed the keys out of one car that was blaring that rancid music and threw the keys down Jackson St. To my surprise I was greeted with polite applause from some of the neighbors and customers. I think it took the young savage about and hour to find his keys or have a spare sent to him.

I don't who is dealing in the parking lot but I know for a fact that some of those people live and or lived in the section 8 rental units across the street from the family dollar.

Jackson Street is the pits anymore. Time to round up all of the drug dealing welfare section 8 SSI scum and send them back to the Bronx. At this point the only thing we can probably do is take a jackhammer and cut out the area of Jackson to Washburn to Luzerne and float it out to sea....its West Side's ghetto.

Do what i did in 700 Donnelly court Scranton. Take video and many pictures and send it to the police and state police, certified letter, saying if the police will not stop this activity, you are hereby taking action on your own to stop this illegal activity. I emailed a few hundred license plate numbers to the district attorneys office. Scumbags finally went to jail for felony convictions. On the other hand, if i had to do it again, i would take care of it on a rainy night, rimfires are quiet.

Of course drug dealing in our neighborhoods is a problem. But the blatant racism in some of these comments is disturbing. The drug dealers are selling the drugs to SOMEONE. Guess who? Your children, parents, siblings and coworkers. Maybe a little more compassion and treatment for drug addiction, without the judgmental, holier than thou approach that is so common, would help. Whatever we do, let's NOT approve the methadone clinic in Dunmore. Why treat the DISEASE of addiction? Just send the "druggies" to Family Dollar on Jackson St.

1400 block of jackson is ok it is the 1500 block you are talking about.The Family dollar says they will do something if they see it but they don't never did and probably never will the company is only trying to make a buck and wont waste money on cameras that won't help them.They allow anyone to park in their lot at anytime so they are only making it easier for the dealers.The first thing they should do is put signs up saying store parking only then they can do something about dealers using their lot.

The parking lot is an equal opportunity location, that attacks illegal activity from ALL nationalities, social-economic backgrounds and surrounding states. We want the store to take responsibility to help keep our neighborhood safe. Most residents have lived here for generations. Folks with addiction problems do need help, agreed. However, this is in a school zone and these folks are in no hurry to to change. Those criminals that are quite happy to buy, sell and or use drugs, not to mention solicit prostitution need to go. If you lived across the street from this, you would understand the anger and frustration of the residences. This is a matter of public safety.

Maybe we should start a neighborhood watch in this area most of the problem people are easy to spot and they get real nervouse when you stare at them.not sure if this pic will show but this hose was already busted and they only took 1 it borders the ally behind dollar store.

West Scranton truly has become recognized as the ghetto of scranton due to problems like these. i don't know where all these drug dealers and hoodlums are even coming from. lets put a housing project where pretzel park is across the street from the mayor and see how fast these crooks get dealt with.

I'm disgusted with what our neighborhood turned into.Blame it progress,the times,whatever,it still sucks! I dont think none of us bought houses or rented in that neighborhood because it was going to be drug area.Why cant the police step it up in the area and make it not as tempting for these people to sell drugs,prostitute,whatever's going on.We as residents should have a crime watch if that can move towards cleaning it up.We dont need bleeding hearts that probably live nowhere near that neighborhood to justify or try to write off their behavior,like it's a disease.it's a sickness, and the rest of the excuses they make for their behavior.It's wrong and it's our neighborhood,not theirs or the dealers!

Do any of the neighbors have video cameras and a safe place to film these unwanted thugs?

Some neighbors are willing to set up their own surveillance camera's but we need to check with authorities to see if what is recorded is able to be used for prosecution. The business should be putting camera's to watch their parking lot.

Where does these drug transactions take place? How do they do their business? Does a car pull up somewhere and these thugs are just waiting? I am def willing to loan my video camera out to whomever can catch these crooked people. I'm just curious how they do their business if neighbors know what's going on. They must not be so sneaky about it. It's a shame what Scranton has become. Sad. Very Sad

There are cars that pull up, drops in the dumpster and behind the soda machine and right out in the open.The pay phone is used for their deals too. Most of the time it is right in the open day and night.

Well, I saw the issue was closed on feed I'm getting from this, not so. Yes you can use a video camera, no sound, see/know anything that is legitimate to file a complaint, get license plate numbers, listen & get names. If SPD won't help, go right to the magistrate & file harrassment charges if it's a neighbor. Have all your ducks in a row first! I had a problem with renters next door to me, loud all hours & to the point of drug deals being made in my driveway. I had to step up & take control, I did, took the right avenues, delat with alot of BS, now their gone. I & my neighbors couldn't be happier, but I took on the brunt of it. No I don't like what goes on around that store or in that part of the neighborhood at all, but you all can @#$% or do something, your choice. I see anything while shopping there I'd be on the phone quick, first calling, then taping. I grew up with two blocks from there, & went to St. Pat's, that part of WS is slum now & it's growing through all of WS, gonna grow until YOU take control.

Yes that part of WS has seriously gone down the crapper, and fast. My mother in law lives one block from the Dollar Store on Washburn, and has lived there for about 35 years. She always spent most of her summers sitting out on her front porch, but abruptly stopped doing so last summer because she is afraid of all her new neighbors. Damn rotten shame. She also walks frequently to the Dollar Store-it is one of the only stores she can walk to now at her age, and we worry about her. After living in that neighborhood for her entire life, she should not have to worry about dealing with the scum. NOONE should. The police are just letting that part of WS turn into a drug dealing slum.

Sadly one of the largest remaining old churches in Scranton is across the street.

Does this ever end? 2-3 AM. Cabs honking horns waiting for their customers to come out of the crack house. It's almost the 1st of the month. Time for SSI payments. Any bets on the illicit activities that will be happening on Wednesday about 2-3 AM again.

Keep your eyes open. Saw two men scoping us up for their new territory. Very tall black man late twenties and a short white man with dark hair late thirties. They were photographing the cheap cell phone flier in the Family Dollar window.. The white man was giving the other directions on how to get to all the schools in West side.

Spoke with Scranton PD. Footage from private video camera's and photographs can be used as evidence.

Talk to your children. Child Predator was just arrested 1500 block of Price St. He is 18-19 years old.
