A lady has 12 cats that she lets roam the neighborhood freely with her door open. I found 16 loads of cat fecal matter in my mulch. Somebody please help!!!
the woman caring for the 12 cats is most probably feeding a colony of feral cats. and its not possible to confine them to a property. cats span up to 5 miles as their territory. They should be fixed so the population doesnt increase 10x's during one summer. Yes, its true. Of course i gestimated but cats can get pregant a few days after delivery of kittens. it unhealthy for cats to have litter after litter. like a machine. try to see if she is planning to get those cats fixed. Make sure no one odopts any that will declaw them, declawing is cruel and only done for peoples convenience. Certainly not the cats. Its painful for years, its still in the faze of discussion weather or not animal authorities publically state, decalwing is against the law or ok or ?
If the lady really has twelve cats, contact the SPCA. Twelve is too many for one person or even one family to deal with. They're probably living in squalor.
However, if the twelve cats are twelve feral cats, that's a different story. Feral cats are completely unable to tolerate humans. They'll never be pets. The best anyone can do is feed them and spay them so they don't have kittens. If they're feral cats, leave her alone. Even the SPCA won't do anything.
If she's handling the cats, allowing them in her house, etc, they're probably pets. If they only show up for food, they're probably feral.
To the people whose mulch is being used as a litter box why don't you try bringing it up at the next township meeting as untaken care of ferel cats can cause a problem with rabies and other diseases. Also send emails to your elected officials. Remember "the squeaky wheel gets greased". Don't EVER stop trying to fix a problem in the right way.
