Do you have any idea how hard it is to get that close to a curb without wrecking the plow front/curb/sidewalk in these conditions? Blowing snow and piles make it very hard to see. Instead of constantly complaining that they're not doing their job to your liking, make it a bit easier and put out curb markers so they can get as close as possible.

Not asking for a clean sweep up to the curb, I understand obstacles in the road. But 6-7’ off the curb (entire car width) cant be acceptable. They can see the sidewalk and street conditions when they start. They were good in years past. 3 car width street goes to 1.

But you did say "could plows please plow up yo the sidewalk" in your initial complaint, so which is it? Yes, they can see when they start, but visibility changes drastically with the incoming snow and wind. The driver may not be fully aware of their wheel to plow end ratio. No matter the reason, help them out and set a guide for them. It will be much appreciated, I promise.

How about the city of Salem provide residents (not tourists for a change) the curb markers during the winter months. Or, better yet, have the DPW put them out. Would benefit the residents & the plow drivers. City taxes should pay for this.
And, yes, AP, in years past, this was not an issue. The plow drivers cleared close enough to the curb, so that people could park their cars again after a storm, without being halfway out in the street.
