The road is still in need of repairs.

We need this road paved. The City and County need to improve our roads they are in very poor condition.

Roads in the unincorporated area of the county are either public or private. In all North Carolina counties, public roads in unincorporated areas are maintained by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. The exception is private roads that have not been handed over to the NCDOT. These roads are maintained by the owner, subdivision or Home Owners Association. Within the Wilmington City limits, the Streets Maintenance Division usually maintains the roads. Their phone number is 341-7879.

The first 300 feet of Harley Road from Market Street is in the city limits

Potholes on Harley Rd are terrible. An accident waiting to happen example... When you turn onto Harley Rd from Market Street there are potholes that drivers try to avoid ie going into the other lane to avoid and if there is another car coming in the opposite direction its a scary situation!!! You either run over the pothole and knock your car out of alignment or steer into other lane and cause a head on collision.

I think who claims the road is part of the problem. I believe DOT has been contacted in the past.

This continues to be an issue. The problem is that the road was not made for the size of trucks going in and out of Coastal Beverage. The road NEEDS to be repaved. Someone fills them in and they immediately start deteriorating again. When it rains, drivers can't see all of the holes.

I can't believe nothing has been done in all these years. It's horrible!

I was recently given the name and number of the person at New Hanover County that handles the paving for Harley. I'm wondering how much it would cost to have this road repaved and if it would be feasible for the residents who use it to contribute to a fund. Though some may argue that tax dollars should already cover it.

The city and the county require this road to be open for emergency vehicles but will not maintain it. No one claims ownership.
