Another shot of the street.

UPDATE 7/2/11: Drove down Peralta today and at junction of Peralta and 20th, there are HUGE holes in the pavement around the tracks. A year has passed and still nothing has been done to remove or repair.

City of Oakland, whose responsibility is this? Who do we need to contact to get some action??

I drive here every day on the way to work, and have seen only one of the tracks being used. The rest need to go, and it's obvious they've been forgotten. The quality of the road is so bad.

The ones that are in use are obviously either new, or maintained--those are completely fine. The disused ones, left to slowly disappear under the adjacent asphalt, are flat-out dangerous. As more people move into West Oakland, bringing more pedestrian and bicycle traffic, it's only a matter of time before these things start becoming lawsuit generators for the city.

As Wood Street has begun to get a LOT more traffic due to the opening of Target and access to Emeryville this is of major importance. I need to have this fixed as I ride my bicycle this way most days and would like to avoid a major injury that could occur from having to pay attention to the angle of the tracks, oncoming traffic and potholes!

It has been seriously gross, recently. I hope this site helps in the effort to clean up our environment.

I have a pretty nice scar on my right ankle from falling on my bike from these tracks several months ago. Please get rid of them!

- Oakland’s streets are a network of 2,300 lane miles.

- The streets are currently on an 85-year resurfacing cycle, which means a street will be resurfaced once in your lifetime. The industry standard is a 25-year cycle.
- 39% of streets are in Good to Excellent condition; 38% in Fair condition; and 23% in Poor condition.
- There are also 1,120 miles of linear sidewalk, which is the distance from Oakland to El Paso, TX, and 150 blocks of pedestrian pathways.
- Property owners are responsible for maintaining the sidewalks adjacent to their property, unless damaged from one of 38,400 city-owned street trees.
