So tired of the hondas, and the rice burners speeding down my street late at night, and early in the morning. Their stereos are so loud my windows shake, and their cars are really gonna hit and kill someone or something. Some live on Lakehurst, some live on Shore, and some on Bayshore. I could tell u where most of these young men live, and they should speed elsewhere such as on the freeway where the police will catch them!

I live on Lakehurst too... I know exactly who you are talking about. His name starts with an R.
I believe someone complained to the police, and they talked to him. I've been behind him driving, and if you think he's bad on Lakeshore, wait till he actually gets on a highway.
He calmed down for awhile, but now is back to his terrible driving ways, and his friends and their cars are just as worse.

ANNOYED AT COMPLAINERS (Visitante)
I love how this forum has turned from people trying to help other people/local municipality out with potholes, dangerous intersections, broken stop lights and the like...
Into a bunch of whiny little do-nothing anonymous complainers.
How about instead of posting online to a forum, you do something CONSTRUCTIVE and write down the license plate numbers and record the events with a portable camera and get them arrested?
Oh no... Forbid the thought of actually doing anything YOURSELF to solve the problem. Just sit around and complain amongst yourselves because nobody is doing something about a problem they don't know about.
I really wish that this site was better moderated to remove the clearly useless posts, because it really has gone downhill quickly.
Don't think this post is useless? Lets think for a moment if it can be solved.
1. It doesn't give any information that can be easily used by the authorities to actually do anything. So even if they WANTED to help, they have things like, "There are people in Honda's who live in a lot of areas who make NOISE when it is late! One of their cars is WHITE and the other one is BLACK with a 30-day tag! And sometimes they drive fast!"
That narrows it down. Thanks a bunch, guys.
2. Thanks to something called "Presumption of Innocence" these people are only going to get in trouble when they are caught ACTUALLY doing something--not when someone writes on the Internet about it. RECORD THE EVENT WITH A CAMERA. Don't just sit at your computer and write about it.
3. Until they do something that is higher than a misdemeanor the cops usually won't care much. Loud music is a misdemeanor. Driving fast is also a misdemeanor. Reckless driving, guess what? MISDEMEANOR. Even if they are doing all three at once, the chances of them actually doing it while a cop is around is EXTREMELY RARE.
In short, the only way you are going to get them to slow down is by putting in speed bumps. But nobody wants that, as that inconveniences YOU as well as the other people. The only way to get them to stop playing the music loud is to have the government put in a limit on how loud you can make stereos. yeah, sure--in a pigs eye. And driving reckless? Well, lets just make all cars computer controlled so we don't have to think anymore. Then we won't have any of these issues, any more now will we?
Oh, right... We can't even stop using petroleum products to power our cars so how are we going to make a car that drive itself... Maybe we should all just go back to riding bikes around instead of using cars.

Annoyed, you had all that time to watch all that happen, and NOT get any license plate numbers down?
What were YOU thinking?
All it takes is a license plate, and a phone call to the non-emergency line to have them on the lookout for the car. Call them enough with it, and they will pull him over or go to his house and ask questions.
Stop being passive-aggressive and take action.
Take a picture (you obviously have enough time to sit outside and wait) and show them what is going on.

Yeah, like you know--reporting these cars to the police rather than complaining about them on a website.

What would you like them to do? The guy had an accident, and now his car is hopefully totaled.
WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT THEM TO DO?!?

Keep this open until it is resolved! Someone is going to get killed in this development. This 'crash' the other night should be a wake up call for the police. I've lived here 24 years and our street is a drag strip.
To make matters worse...when S.LKSB was redone last year, it is now a nice, smooth, drag strip. I see these cars coming 40-60mph down this street. I've seen this black Honda numerous times pass my house at 50+mph. Glad we won't see it anymore.
Maybe we need to start posting license plates so the police can refer to them. The Camaro's, Mazda's, black SUV's, and Honda's that race around here.
This is a residential community with kids and elderly. It is not the Need for Speed video game!! So glad that no one was killed the other night. If it takes a block watch and consistent email of license plates to the City, then let's do it. Someone has to be on the lookout for our kids lives....and our own.

@Bayshore Resident: So what is the petition going to do? The only way to make people slow down is to put speed bumps in. Speed bumps are never put on residental streets, because the speed limit is 25MPH which is too face for speed bumps--you will damage your car.
So please, enlighten me as to what this magical slip of paper is going to do once it obtains a mystical number of people's signatures.
Oh, and if you report them enough--they get their licenses taken away or at least suspended for a couple of months.
