  For decades both lanes were through lanes. The city arbitrarily changed the right lane to right turn only lane a few years ago. People have been ignoring the lane designation ever since. I've never seen this cause an accident because there are two lanes on the other side of the intersection. Any near miss is soley a driver in the straight lane trying to play cop and looking like a fool.

  Turning the far right lane from a right turn only lane into a straight or right turn lane would be best, Matt. I have never played traffic cop, but after passing this intersection, I always turn right on Grand Ave. at the very next intersection. So if I'm in the only straight lane, and one or more drivers go straight from the right turn lane, I have been blocked from merging to the far right lane before the next intersection. Or as merging, and a driver comes up from behind and goes straight, I've almost been hit. This issue happens to me at least once a week and it seems like there is really no reason for the right turn only lane. There are probably more people turning right on Grand at the next intersection than at San Pablo, and that's not a right turn only lane.
