I believe the real degradation/pothole issue with this section of road if not the entire segment of Dr. Bird Road from 108 to Ednor and thence as Norwood to New Hampshire is the underlying construction and width. Although the Master Plan designates this area (road?) as rural, it clearly is not...this road has major backups every weekday at Ednor/Layhill/Norwood/Dr. Bird where traffic waits anywhere from three to five traffic light cycles. Heavy construction traffic at several home development sites along Dr. Bird Road also exacerbate the road degradation.
The entire section of road (Dr. Bird Road from 108 to Ednor and thence as Norwood to New Hampshire) should be rebuilt as a four lane with median although I doubt this will happen soon. It should be rebuilt to sufficient standards to enable heavy truck and automobile cross-county traffic that can only increase over time.
