Description
There is a rainbow colored crosswalk between Cliff and Maple in the middle of Willard Street. It is intended as a crossing for Champlain students and others. It is now washed out and lacks visibility. While the crosswalk has a sign immediately in front of the cross walk, this crosswalk, especially with the washed out painting, is not nearly as obvious as a cross walk with flashing lights or a stanchion in the middle of the street. Today as I crossed, one driver stopped appropriately to allow me to cross. However, a driver immediately in back with out of state plates, not realizing why the driver in front had stopped, went around the first driver and nearly hit me. Notwithstanding this illegal action, the crosswalk sign was probably not visible to the second driver and, as noted, the cross walk paint barely visible. I understand there might be other cross walks with similar issues, but this is an accident waiting to happen and needs immediate remedies especially with students about to return to school .
