You're breaking the law if you cut through parking lots.

I agree however that this is a problem area that wasn't well thought out. So yes, fix it.

I agree it's a major safety hazard. I've sat through a number of traffic light changes waiting for a chance to turn left onto Rt 50.

A major hazard ... even one turns left on to 50 from Stewart's parking lot, it's easy not to see a fast moving vehicle coming out of the dip at Jones Rd. and 50.

Ever try to make a left from Jones onto Rte 50 on a weekend...just as miserable.

I am constantly traveling on 50 and Jones and it takes a good 15-20 min at times just to make a left. Also it is not safe if traffic backs up because there is an ambulance agency that needs to get through

Instead of turning left when it's busy, it is almost always faster to do this:

Turn right onto 50.
Turn right at the light.
Make a legal u turn at the first opportunity. Worst case, go up to Perry road, turn right, and turn around there.
Return to the light.
Turn left to go north on 50.

If that doesn't fit the definition of a poorly designed intersection I'm not sure what does.

Jones Road use to intersect with Old Gick Road, and Old Gick with Rt 50. When they put a traffic light in at Old Gick and Rt 50, they should have left Jones Rd the way it was.

It would have been easier to control traffic if they left Jones Rd to intersect with Old Gick Rd., than to later add a traffic signal at Jones and Rt 50. The traffic on Old Gick and Jones Rd combined equals the traffic on Rt 50. Having ONE intersection would be safer. Fewer turns off of (and onto) the higher speed road.

Let's take a tip from the town of Malta. Traffic circle/ oval? Then no need for a light, everyone will be making right turns. It will also get the Route 50 traffic down to the posted speed limit of 45 MPH there. The only possible draw back might be the Jones Rd entrance into Stewart's may need to be eliminated but it you could always go around the circle and enter from 50.

if they put a light at Jones they'd have to remove the light from Old Gick. you can't have two in a row like that or traffic would be backed up to the mall. I never understood the need for the light at Old Gick. When i first saw the construction crews 5 yrs ago i had assumed it was a light for Jones and i was shocked when they put it up on Gick. Isn't that just a back entrance to the Wal-Mart? it doesn't really go anywhere else. they should just move the existing light south a hundred feet to where they should have put it to begin with.

I agree!! The light should have been placed at Jones Rd. and Rt.50,..But because of the increase traffic on Old Gick Rd. especially during summer and track season, I always thought it'd be more beneficial to have a round about rather then a light. They are safer in many ways: they constantly keep a steady flow of traffic (no waiting @ a light on the HOT days), drivers with heavy feet HAVE to slow down for a round about, and those that like to not stop completly while cutting others off, grrr, will get to continue the rolling stop without looking so dumb...Either way something has to change, there are to many NEW housing developments ruining the area increasing the number of drivers/accidents!

I agree that the light @ Perry Rd is useless. If they keep it there they need to make the Ingersoll Rd intersection a NO TURN ON RD interesection. People heading north on Rt50 turning left on Jones Rd turn too closely to the people trying to go Left on Rt50, people to not consider the people @ the Jones Rd to Rt50 left turning lane regardless of what direction they are coming from. A light at this intersection is needed!!!

Agree-this is a silly intersection. Either reroute Old Gick and Ingersoll, or move the light.

Also, if the county would like some quick and easy revenue, post a car at the stop sign and you'll be absolutely amazed at how many cars ROLL thru

Even though I don't really like them this location is a prime spot for a traffic circle with all the different roads. Some places do work well with a rotary.

What was the highway department smoking the day they put the light at the wrong interestion. How many more accidents need to occur before the County wakes up!!

traveled this intersection for two years, horrible, getting to turn left onto Rt 50 from jones road, anywhere from four pm to 6;30 pm is a nightmare, One night a car turning left onto jones was hit by another car traveling south car ended up right infront of me, luckily no one seriously hurt. Some nights sit there several minutes trying to get thru, The light on ingersoll is no help to jones road intersection. We need a light there!!!

Agree with Cindy. Also if you driving on Jones Rd and just about at the corner, the car turning left from Rt 50 comes to the lane on Jones Rd. Much the same on Carr & Northern Pines...awful intersections. The cars turning rt from Carr Rd onto Jones fly thru the stop sign. These roads need revamping...before someone gets badly injured or killed.

Me too. Not sure how the traffic light would coordinate, but there needs to be a way to turn left without cutting through Stewarts parking lot.

I made the mistake of going home that way the other night, trying to take a left out of Jones to go north on 50. It was absolutely ridiculous trying to get out.
I think a better solution and relieve traffic from Exit 15 is to put in an Exit 15A as more and more homes are developed in the north Wilton area ... why make people get off 15 and have to travel through burger alley and four traffic lights to get to Jones Rd.
This case on been on See Click Fix for 3 years - obviously they are not looking on here for issues people find important. I think a trip to the Wilton Town Board meeting is in store.

A real simple solution. Make Jones Rd end at Old Gick Rd (like it use to) instead of Rt 50.

As an added benefit, if you're on Jones or Old Gick and you want to get to either one, you don't have to wait and tie up traffic on Rt 50 waiting to turn again.

If your taking a left here...fill up with gas or put the pedal to the floor and wave to the person you just cut off. No easy way other than illegally going through stewarts.
